Christmas Toyshop

7 December, 2011
Christmas is just around the corner and while many people are planning gifts and lavish lunches, some local groups are banding together to help those less fortunate families in their area.

One of these groups is the Working Together Group. The Working Together Group is made up of several local agencies in the Stonnington area that aim to strengthen the collaborative relationships between public services, public housing residents and the wider community. By joining forces, the group promotes social inclusion and local activities to encourage community participation.

This year, the Working Together Group is putting on their annual Christmas Toyshop. The Toyshop enables parents with a HealthCare card to register and select toys for their children ages between 0 and 12. Gifts were once all provided by a local charity ,but thanks to the generosity of local businesses, corporate sponsorship and local families, this year is shaping up to be the biggest yet.

The Windsor Community Bank® and Prahran Market branch are proud to be involved in such a fabulous event and look forward to supporting this project for many Christmases to come.

Walk in Wardrobe Fashion Fundraiser
11 October, 2011

Walk in Wardrobe is a vintage and pre-loved clothing market event held in the heart of Windsor. Just in time for the Spring Racing Carnival, the Walk in Wardrobe vintage fashion market will feature a wide range of affordable clothes, accessories and footwear.

Established in 2010 by local fashionistas Angie Dimitriouand Meg Rayner, the market is returning for it’s second year to raise money for Clown Doctors Australia.

The original idea was sprung from a news story that inspired the girls to reach out and help others in their local community. By starting small and doing what they know best, the girls hope to eventually grow the market to a national event, promoting the
simple idea of recycling and re-using clothing, reducing waste and in turn raising money for a good cause.

The Community Bank® is proudly sponsoring the event and are looking forward to some guilt-free shopping and helping a great local initiative!

The market will run on Sunday 30th of October at Boda Haircutters on Greville St Prahran.

Visit www.planbig.com.au/walk-in-wardrobe-fashion-fundraiser for more information.

Footpath Gallery Project
11 August, 2011

Grey Street, in the heart of St Kilda, is being revamped into a public art gallery thanks to the creative genius of the Footpath Gallery. The Footpath Gallery organises for the ladies from the Sacred Heart Mission Women’s House to go on photographic excursions in the surrounding area. Each week for 6 months, participants produce black and white images as a result of their excursions, which are then mounted directly onto the wall in Grey Street for the viewing pleasure of local residents and passersby. Six digital cameras will be available for participants to use on photography excursions where social topics and local areas will be used as inspiration.

Michelle Mcfarlane initially set up the Footpath Gallery project on the PlanBig website, an online platform where individuals can post ideas for projects and collaborate with other users and site visitors.

Windsor Community Bank® and the Prahran Market branch are proudly supporting the Footpath Gallery by supplying $450 to print the photographs for 6 months.

To find out more about the Footpath Gallery and other community projects created by local change makers, visitwww.planbig.com.auOr stop by Grey Street in St Kilda to experience the gallery firsthand.
